Let me say to begin with my cat is semi-wild. Myself and wife are the only ones who can pet her. And to put her in a cat carry case or car is out of the question. I’ve tried she will tear you up. But she has this disorder with her skin. It is not mange . She gets like little scabs at her skin and tuffs of hair pull out leaving a bald spot and a rashy looking area. It is mostly at her rear but a little on the back of her neck. She doesn’t scatch continualy and it doesn’t seem to bother her that much but she is losing her hair and looks pitiful.I’ve called vets and they all say to bring her in. They don’t seem to understand that is out of the question without putting her to sleep. Has anyone encountered anything like this on their cat?
Let me make this a little clwarer. This cat will only let you pet her periodically. And if you act as if you are going to pick her up or reach for her to quickly she becomes a wild panther. She will try to bite ,claw or whatever it takes to keep you from picking her up. Even when she lets you pet her if you move your foot or something she’s gone for ahile.

Not with my cat. But the same thing happened to my dog.
It turns out, that he had an awful sunburn. We treated it by putting lotion and aloe on it regularly.
If it isnt sunburn, she may have psoriasis.

It could be ringworm, flea infestation, skin infection or disorder or a symptom of a more serious disease such as FIV. She should really see a vet.
Try wrapping her in a blanket very tightly before putting her in the cage. You could also get a tranquilizer from the vet and give that to her to get her in. It is also possible that the vet will come to your house (particularly if the vet also treats farm animals). Another suggestion is to take detailed photographs of the skin ailment and bring those into a vet so that you can get the proper treatment for your cat! Good Luck.

Yes. Our eldest cat had this problem and after some blood work the Vet figured out she had a Staph infection. It took two months on antibiotics to clear it up.
I don’t know how you will be able to administer the medicine with your cat because of it’s wild behavior but we have another cat that hates cat carriers so we would have to get the carrier ready, lay a towel on my lap and as I petted him my Wife would quickly wrap the towel around him so he could not scratch us as we put him in the carrier.
Another way is to grab him by the scruff of the neck like a kitten.
Good luck!
