Around January, I noticed a rash on my neck. I didn’t pay attention to it at first because I noticed it after a shower while looking in the mirror and thought it was just from rubbing it with a towel to dry off. It wasn’t until a month ago I realized that it was an actual rash with a fixed shape. It’s on my neck and a little on my chest. Sometimes it’s bright red and other times barely noticeable and like a tan color. Sometimes it itches, but this may just be in my head. Also, it isn’t raised or bumpy, but smooth with my normal skin. I think it might run in my family because I noticed last week that my brother (who is 6 years older than me and lives two hours away) had the same kind of rash on his neck. He also said it appeared just one day when he was 17 or 18 (I’m 18). Does anyone have any idea what this could be? My mother said some people in her side of the family had some kind of skin disorder (she doesn’t know what), but it looked different. I will see a doctor soon. Any ideas?
It’s not from a necklace or any other jewelry because I don’t wear any. I don’t think it’s a reaction to my clothing or laundry soap. And it is more like a skin discoloration than anything else, except sometimes it itches.

It sounds like a fungus infection. I got a prescription from my doctor after having it for years and it went away. It started looking like a light brown rash after all that time. You should see your doctor to get it cleared up.

are you wearing a necklace? some people develop an allergic reaction to certain metals – such as nickel.
take it off if you are wearing any necklace…..

It sounds like it’s just some skin decoloration. I’d still have it checked out by a dermatologist, though. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Go see a dermatologist. Why live with it when a cream will probably cure it in a week or so.
