Are kids today bigger wusses than in the past?

Back in my day, we didn’t have those economical wireless controllers, we had those square NES controllers that hurt your hand, and were tethered by a 6 foot cable, causing tripping hazards.

What more, we didn’t have HD TV and 16 million colors, we had 16 to 256 colors, on crappy standard definition TV’s!

Your just mad cuz you get beat in halo by 10 year olds. Let it go. kids today are good at shooters but thats about it. Watch them play something from the NES and youll see how crappy gamers they are.

I don’t see how that would make us bigger wusses =/

Hell, that’s nothing. Back in MY day we didn’t even have d-pads. If you wanted to control a game, you had one option, that was, use the joystick. You could use a keyboard if you had a Commodore 64 and were dumb enough to think it would work. Nobody had invented the hand-cramp instigation device (mouse) and there wasn’t a huge crowd of fanatics insisting it was the only thing to control a game with, so developers ignored the keyboard anyhow, except for role playing games like Ultima and Bard’s Tale. Other than that, joystick.

All we had was the joystick and we liked it. The best joystick there was for years was the atari 2600 joystick, which would always break but nobody complained. We didn’t even have 16 colors in the beginning. We had 8. Or, if you used a PC, you could choose between 4 color graphics, or no color at all. The CGA colors were so bad that most people stuck with monochrome.

Back in the good old days if you wanted to play an online game you dialed up your local BBS, plugged it into your 300 bps modem and spent the next hour playing Galactic Warzone, a text-only door game.

I can think back even farther to the time when the only video games were Pong and Bomber, a side-scrolling arcade game where you dropped bombs on buildings. When there wasn’t even an IBM pc, but you could go to your local radio shack and get a TRS 80 computer and program it with up to 4kb of BASIC code to make a game with little blips and dots.

Now that I’ve thought back that far, it occurs to me that actually, those days sucked… I like my ps3. If I could travel back in time with my ps3 I would make a zillion dollars and probably be quarantined by the government.
