Is it possible to get scabies all over my back, shoulders and chest, or can you only get it in certain places?

Essi asked:

I’ve got itchy, little red bumps all over those areas. I don’t know what it is but nothing I do seems to make it go away. I think it’s scabies. Though that’s kind of odd because there are 5 people living in my house that I come in close contact with but only one other person seems to have it.

If it was scabies you would be able to tell. See your doc to find out what is going on.

i got scabies when i was younger and i didn’t spread it to any of my family or friends. you should go see your doctor about it.

to answer your question you can spread it all over your body if you scratch an infected area then scratch an uninfected area.

Some folks may not know what scabies are, so here’s a really good explanation that I found:

Scabies is a contagious skin infection that is caused by a type of mite. Mites are insect-like creatures that burrow, or tunnel, under the outer layer of skin.

Symptoms – skin becomes itchy, irritated, warm, reddened and blistered. Itching is usually worse at night.
The skin irritation is more likely to be seen in the following locations: a) between the fingers and toes; b) around the wrist or navel; c) in the folds of the elbow, armpit, belt-line, abdomen, groin; d) in the genital area.

When a person has scabies symptoms, an accurate diagnosis by a medical professional is important in order to ensure appropriate prescription treatment.
Scabies is spread by direct skin-to-skin or close bodily contact. Even the cleanest person can become infested when there is direct, skin-to-skin contact with a person who has scabies.
If you have close contact with an animal that has scabies, the mites could get under your skin and cause temporary skin irritation and itching. However, the mites die in a couple of days, and you do not need to be treated with special medication to kill the mites. If a pet or farm animal has scabies, it is important to have the disease treated by a veterinarian or you could continue to get reinfected from the animal.

I hope you get relief soon – best wishes!
